Future Plans - To Build or Not

Establishing a Permanent Home

One of Hopeful Home's objectives is to create a more spacious and sustainable home in the countryside.

A new facility owned by Hopeful Home has the potential to provide a secure and nurturing environment with ample space for children to grow, play and receive quality care.  The goal is to have a place where the orphanage can grow its own vegetables, rice, milk, and meat to reduce dependency on  donations and ensure self-sufficiency.

Our Planning & Development Process

We are in the early stages of exploring the opportunities for developing a new permanent home.   Before we embark on this ambitious project, we want to assure that it is beneficial to our operations, that it is feasible and that it is sustainable on a long-term basis.

First Phase:  Land Purchase in the Countryside

We presently own land, about 800 sq meters, located at Jhaukhel Bhaktapur. Although we own the land, we need to assure that the plot of land will be beneficial to our operations and that it provides essential access to schools, shops, transportation, healthcare, water, sanitation and other amenities that will benefit the children under our care.  In addition, we need to assure that we will be able to staff the new facility.  If we determine that we are not able to accomplish these considerations, it may be better to sell the property and to purchase land or a building in a more advantageous location.

Second Phase: Feasibility Analysis

We, along with our partnership organizations, will conduct a comprehensive analysis of the benefits and disadvantages of constructing and operating a new facility.   A key part of the process is performing a financial analysis regarding  the costs of constructing a facility and our ability to financially sustain its operations. Another key question is to determine how many children we can care for and accordingly, what size the facility needs to be.  In addition, we need to assess the quality of the schools and the education offerings for the orphanage's children.    We have just begun this important process and will determine our future plans and directions based upon the outcomes of the analysis.

Third Phase: Fund Raising

Fourth Phase: Building Plans and Permitting

Fifth Phase: Construction

Please stay tuned for additional information on our project plans and financial requirements.
