Our Mission, History and Objectives

Since 2002 Hopeful Home has been operating successfully as a Nepal-based non-profit organization  dedicated to supporting homeless children.

Our Mission

At Hopeful Home our mission is to provide a safe and secure shelter to previously homeless children in our community. We believe that everyone deserves a safe and loving place to call home.  We work tirelessly to make that a reality.

Our History

Our Founding

The story of the Hopeful Home for Orphans and Helpless Children is a testament to the dedication and compassion of its Nepali  founders,  Mrs. Bhuwaneswori Pandey,  Mrs. Gopini  Wosti, Mr.Dinesh Prasad Khakurel and four members.

Founded in  February 2002 under the NGO registration act 2034 ( R.N. 680-058/59) and Social Welfare Act 2049  with registration  number  13254, the orphanage began with a small group of 12 children. The initial impetus for its establishment came from Dr. Dennis Hess and his wife Noreen. They committed to covering the children's educational expenses and rent for the first two years. Other operational expenses were covered through local donations.

Our Early History

The orphanage's initial location was a rented house in the Chamatipanth area of Kathmandu. Over time, the orphanage quickly grew to its high capacity of 40 children. Despite operating at full capacity, the organization remained dedicated to taking in additional children who were at significant risk.

The children at Hopeful Home come from diverse backgrounds, some referred by the Nepal police, others by Child Welfare Officers and others by local governing bodies from various villages with whom the orphanage maintains strong relationships. Some children have been directly rescued from the streets.

Our Present Status

The orphanage is currently renting at  Changunarayan -3,Jhaukhel ,Bhaktapur, Nepal. The premises include five dormitories (three for boys and two for girls), a kitchen, a storage room, an office, a small library, a warden's room, three toilets and a small internal courtyard. The basic facilities provide 24-hour hot and cold water, clean bathrooms and a small terrace. Despite its limited resources, the orphanage provides a safe and nurturing environment for the children.
