The key to the success of Hopeful Home is the dedication of our team members. The dedication extends from our Managing Directors, our Staff, our Board of Directors, our Volunteers and to Organizations who have partnered with us.
My name is Milan Wosti, and I am honored to serve as the Chairman of Hopeful Home for Orphans and Helpless Children. My connection to Hopeful Home is deeply personal. In 1998, my family moved from a remote village in Nuwakot to Kathmandu during Nepal’s Maoist conflict. Witnessing the struggles of orphaned and vulnerable children inspired my mother to establish Hopeful Home after working in an orphanage that faced many challenges. Despite limited resources, she worked tirelessly to provide children with food, shelter, education, and care. Through her dedication and the support of friends and donors, Hopeful Home gradually grew into a trusted and stable organization.
I grew up at Hopeful Home from the age of nine to sixteen and completed my education with its support. Living alongside children who had experienced hardship taught me compassion, resilience, and the importance of helping others. Later, I became actively involved in the organization as a Central Committee Member.
In early 2026, following my mother’s passing, I was entrusted with continuing her vision and was appointed Chairman of Hopeful Home. Today, we provide children with a safe home, nutritious meals, healthcare, quality education, sports facilities, computers, a library, and a caring family environment. Our goal is to help every child become a confident, independent, and successful adult. Many of our former children have gone on to pursue higher education and meaningful careers, creating brighter futures for themselves and their communities.
We are deeply grateful to our supporters, especially Ten Friends, Stichting Marlief, Laxmi Support, and many sponsors, volunteers, and friends whose generosity has transformed countless lives.
Hopeful Home is more than an organization—it is a family built on love, hope, and opportunity. As Chairman, I remain committed to honoring my mother’s legacy and ensuring every child receives the care, dignity, education, and support they deserve. June 11, 2026

Currently Dinesh is serving the orphanage as Co-Chairperson and Director of Fundraising and Programs. As Dinesh states "I feel proud to work in HHO that my time and strength has gone for children. But running the orphanage is not an easy job because we don’t receive any support from the government and we are always dependent on donations."
Dinesh lives in Kathmandu with his family - his mother, wife, daughter and son. After completing primary school, Dinesh went to another school which was one hour away on foot. While training as a waiter in a big hotel, Dinesh met a couple from London who wanted to help an orphanage.
He contacted the orphanage where Gopini and Pandey worked and arranged for a visit. After some time, Gopini and Pandey started a new orphanage - Hopeful Home Orphanage . They were running the orphanage asking for donations door-to-door and they asked Dinesh to help make connections with tourists. He made a flyer for the orphanage and started an international volunteer program and began working there part time, helping the children with English language, good civilization, and raising funds.

Without our dedicated staff, we could not operate. Each of our staff members bring love and kindness to their daily interactions with the children who live at the orphanage. We feel fortunate to work as a cohesive team in providing for the many needs of children who are part of our extended family.

Dev Praja, entered the world in 1993 AD in Gandaki Rural Municipality, Gurkha, situated in the hills outside the Kathmandu Valley. Coming from the impoverished Chepang community, known as one of the poorest indigenous groups in Nepal, his family has faced considerable challenges. The Chepang people, characterized by their semi-nomadic history, have struggled with the rugged terrain, making permanent farming challenging. The forest has remained a crucial source of sustenance for the Chepang. Unfortunately, factors such as forced teenage pregnancies and limited access to education beyond elementary school have contributed to their plight. There are 5 members in his family including 2 elder sisters and parents. His sisters had already got married. They didn’t go to school. Although his parents were very poor farmers, he was sent to school which was very far from his village. After completing his school education, he came to Kathmandu to go to college. He seems very lucky that he has just passed bachelor degree in education. There are very few people who has been university in his community.

Hopeful Home is fortunate to have the assistance of several non-profit organizations from the United States and Europe. They have contributed financial resources to help fund our activities. In addition, they have assisted us in carrying out important projects that have benefited the children at Hopeful Home.

Since 2005, Hopeful Home has worked in partnership with Ten Friends. Ten Friends is a United States based non-profit 501 (c)3 organization that is dedicated to improving lives in Nepal. Ten Friends has provided partial financial support to operate the orphanage and helped in the transition to the current location. Ten Friends volunteers and High School students frequently visit Hopeful Home on their travel adventures and have established a special bond with the staff and children who live at the orphanage. We encourage you to find out more information about Ten Friends at www.tenfriends.org

The Laxmi Support Foundation was founded in 2006. They support schools and a children's home and have successfully implemented more than 60 projects in Nepal.
Since 2005, Laxmi Support has been supporting the Hopeful Home . Together with Gopini Wosti, the managing director of the children's home, they discuss what the children need and what actions we can best take. This could be anything: sponsoring a festival, school clothes, renovating the house or a day out with the children.
Read more information on the projects that they have supported throughout the years.

The Marlief Foundation was founded in 2011 in memory of Marlies Radder. Marlies was planning to do volunteer work in Hopeful Home, a children's home in Kathmandu. Unfortunately, she was no longer allowed to experience this and now we travel to Nepal every year to visit this children's home for orphans or disadvantaged children and to support financially.
The Marlief Foundation has provided some financial support to Hopeful Home for school fees and other needs throughout the years and volunteers from the organization have assisted in the care of children at the orphanage.
